China’s Biggest Compressor Packages for Tight Sandstone Gas put into Operation

Recently, a batch of 35.3 MMSCFD compressor packages has been officially put into use in Shanxi Province, China. Packaged by Jereh, they are believed to have the biggest handling capacity and highest unit-power within Chinese market.

This batch of equipment is currently serving a local gas boosting & station extension project, whose total capacity is able to hit 123.7 MMSCFD. It will help Shanxi to keep optimizing energy structure to a great extent and facilitate local industry’s upgrading and transformation.

 

Tight sandstone gas refers to those natural gas reservoirs with low permeability or ultra-low permeability, which is seen one of the most important unconventional natural gas resources in China.

 

Shanxi is abundant with tight sandstone gas with known reserves of 40 trillion m3. However, they are commonly buried deep in mountainous areas where have winding roads and complicated geological conditions. Therefore, the development of tight sandstone gas had been long restrained in the past.  

 

Facing these challenges, Jereh team figured out a set of customized solutions based on local conditions, through which compressor packages are capable of running smoothly with high adaptability even at 1160-meter high. Moreover, customized segregator is placed on the inlet, enabling dissociated gases to enter pipe network and hence enhancing overall stability. Considering insufficient power supply in mountainous area, Jereh also offered to replace previous electric motor with higher-priced gas engine and earned positive remarks from clients.
